I don't know what to call this post

I've learnt so much recently. Not only can you not count on people to be honest, you cannot count on them to be rational, either.
I had a tutoring lesson last night and my dad's class was right after mine. Before class he chatted with his students about their job situation and I couldn't help but overheard his diatribe against the teaching profession, particularly early childhood education.
It started when one of his students told him that she recently changed jobs from a kindergarten teacher (or TA) to an office worker. He said he was glad for her as he considered preschool teachers to be idiots and if she stayed there any longer she would start talking to everybody as if she were talking to children. His reason being that kindergarten teachers never meet anybody outside of their own profession. One of my aunts was a kindergarten teacher and he said that she was the stupidest amongst his siblings.
I held my tongue at first but I believe that his students would benefit from an intellectual discussion of this and I felt that I had to represent. I said that although I am not exactly a teacher of preschool, I do believe that people who are in in this line of work are professionals. In fact, not just anybody can be a preschool educator; you have to get certified, like nurses. Besides I do not agree with his saying that kindergarten teachers talk to their peers in baby talk. I myself have never encountered such a bizarre thing. Furthermore, if one is to give up advancing oneself and be stuck in a rut, one can do that no matter what profession one is in.
I do not feel particularly good about having to have this conversation; however, I believe I've done the right thing and I'm glad I have stood up for what I believe in. I find it hard to control my emotions when I have important things to say. I often tear up but that's not because I'm sad or angry, it just means that my tear ducts are out of control.
Maybe my job isn't much and my father does not consider what I do as real back-breaking work, but that's his opinion and he's entitled to it. I'm always the first to point out that teaching is not my dream job nor am I making a lot of money from it. Nonetheless, I am employed, doing legal work and the compensation is reasonable. I go to work everyday and I respect myself and the people I work with. I do not have to compromise my principles in order to get paid. How many people can say that?
